DIRECTOR

Chuck Russell

Chuck Russell is the Director of LuHi Tennis Camp. He brings their mix of modern instruction, healthy competition, and fun to the LuHi summer camp. Chuck is USPTA & PTR certified, a former college coach, National Workshop Faculty for the USTA, an Arthur Ashe Kids Day Court Leader, an active N.Y. State Camp Director since 1975 for sleep away and day camps, and a former junior and collegiate competitor. But the real fun for Coach Chuck is seeing his students, from 3 to 80 yr. old’s, improve. He remains a student of the game and teaching, staying current on teaching methods through study and seminars. That knowledge is shared with our LuHi tennis coaches during pre-camp on court trainings and throughout the summer.

LuHi’s Tennis program curriculum is designed by LuHi Summer Programs director, Jason Wass. Each day is broken up into two categories: technical and tactical. The morning schedule involves technical skill development and situational point-play, while the afternoon schedule focuses more on match play or, as Coach Jason calls it, “practical tacticals.” This refers to the set of strategic tactics that can be used during live match scenarios. LuHi’s Tennis Program is a comprehensive experience that provides your child with all the resources necessary to reach their potential in a fun, constructive, and competitive environment.
