We run four 2-week sessions for our Athletics, Arts, Recreation, and STEM programs. For the first time, we are offering LuHi Country Day in 1-week increments for Summer 2021!
LuHi Country Day is being offered on a weekly basis, but all other programs a structured in our 2-week sessions and cannot be split or prorated.
The camp day runs from 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM. Our extended-day program (Program Plus) is available from 7:15 – 9:00 in the morning and 4:30 – 6:30 in the afternoon (additional cost).
If you’d like to check-in on your camper, the best way is to call our office at 516-626-1100 during the camp day and we will have the director of your camper’s program call you back with a detailed update. You can also email summerprograms@luhi.org to make that request, but please know that you may not receive an immediate response. Due to COVID-19 restrictions and protocols, parents/guardians may not be permitted on campus during the camp day to visit their child in their program. More information about this will be released once COVID-19 regulations are finalized.
Program Plus, LuHi’s extended-day program, runs from 7:15 – 9:00 in the morning and 4:00 – 6:30 in the afternoon. You may sign up for either, or both. Transportation is NOT provided for the extended-day program (parent drop-off and pick-up ONLY).
Certain areas throughout campus are air-conditioned such as the Dance Studio, Performing Arts Center, and Ammerman Gym, amongst others. While campers’ time outside varies by program, all program schedules are intentionally designed to balance indoor and outdoor time appropriately. Our pool is located outdoors.
We strongly encourage campers to leave cell phones, video game devices, and other valuables at home. Throughout the day, campers will be engrossed in activities that may involve athletic competition, water, paint, clay, and other art materials, or additional things that could damage their valuables and electronic devices. Also, most of the activities throughout the day will require campers to be fully engaged, and phones or other devices can be a major distraction, hindering their ability to get the most out of their camp experience. Please also note that LuHi Summer Programs is not responsible for lost or damaged items that are brought to camp.
Campers should bring a bag with a refillable water bottle, sunscreen, bathing suit, & towel. Some programs require other specific materials/items, so please check our website or digital program guide for that information.
Some programs such as LuHi Country Day and G.I.F.T. have swim periods built into their schedules, but most programs have optional free-swim periods at lunch and at the end of the day. Campers who are looking to participate in swim should bring a bathing suit & towel each day.
LuHi does not provide towel service or sunscreen to campers. All campers should bring their own bathing suit and towel to camp each day. Programs such as LuHi Country Day and G.I.F.T. have two swim periods built into their schedules, so many campers in those programs come to camp with two bathing suits. Campers also need to bring their own sunscreen, either spray or lotion. If assistance is needed, spray sunscreen can be applied by the camper’s counselor, but any lotion-based sunscreen must be applied by our Health Office staff.
You can certainly send your camper with a packed lunch each day. LuHi does offer a Lunch Program with hot & cold selections for $100 per session.
We transport to and from Eastern Queens, Nassau County, and Western Suffolk County. Convenient locations for centralized pick-up and drop-off will be established throughout these areas. More information about Centralized Transportation will be available once the COVID regulations for transporting campers in Summer 2021 have been established and released.
Centralized Transportation services are provided at no cost to our customers.
Unfortunately, due to the fact that COVID-19 regulations for summer busing have not been released, we are unable to provide a specific timeline for this information. However, when we are able to notify you of your specific CT location and times, we will do so via the email address provided in your registration.
Campers CANNOT ride any bus aside from their own, under any circumstances. A camper may get off at another camper’s stop on their same route if our office receives written permission from a parent/legal guardian.
Another adult can pick up your camper with written permission. Campers will not be released to anyone other than a parent/legal guardian without written permission.
