DIRECTOR

John Buck & Josh Corbin

Coach Buck has been a member of the LuHi Summer Programs team since his days as a high school student at LuHi. He attended Wake Forest University and played four years on the mens basketball team, along with NBA stars Chris Paul and Josh Howard. After graduating, Coach Buck returned to LuHi as a mathematics teacher and assistant boys varsity basketball coach in 2007. In 2010, he became Head Coach for the program. Over the past decade, Coach Buck has worked every summer in our basketball camp. He loves the warm weather and finds joy in helping young players improve their skills while having fun. During the school year, Coach Buck has led his teams to 3 New York State Federation Championships. His teams in 2019 and 2020 finished the season with Top 10 national rankings. Dozens of players have graduated from LuHi and have gone on to play college basketball at UConn, Indiana, Illinois, Ohio State, Villanova, and more!

Coach Josh Corbin is also a graduate of LuHi and a long-time member of the LuHi Summer Programs team. Since 2009, he has also been a member of the coaching staff for the LuHi Varsity Basketball Team alongside Coach Buck, with whom he also played in high school. After graduating from LuHi, Josh went on to attend and play Division 1 basketball at Iona College where he played in the NCAA Tournament. Since he began coaching at LuHi, Josh has worked with players like Andre Curbelo, Zed Key, and many others who went on to play college and professional basketball. He is also currently a teacher at Eagle Academy in Brooklyn.

LuHi’s Boys Basketball program combines competitive team play and individualized skill-building to help players of all ages and levels work on their game. Campers are placed on a team based on their age and ability level. Each morning, they work with their coaches on new skills, shooting drills, and individualized instruction. In the afternoon, they put their skills to the test in a tournament-style competition. Under the mentorship of the coaches, alumni, and players from the nationally ranked LuHi Boys Varsity Basketball Team, campers work each session not only on dribbling, shooting, and passing, but on their coachability, sportsmanship, and character.
