Transportation

Here at LuHi you have the opportunity to customize your transportation options, doing whatever works best for you and your family! We have three distinct transportation options: Centralized Transportation, Door to Door Transportation, & Parent Drop-Off / Pick-Up.
Centralized Transportation: Centralized transportation is included in the tuition price for each program and you are able to choose your centralized location during registration.
Designated pick-up and drop-off locations will be arranged at schools, churches, and public locations across Long Island. This system will allow for shorter and more direct routes to campus as well as more accurate arrival and departure times. We strive to staff each bus/route with a LuHi Bus Counselor to streamline communication and enhance the safety of all of our campers. Central Locations are designated on the basis of enrollment and are not guaranteed. Central Locations may be added, removed, or adjusted based on enrollment needs from session to session. We work hard to have most Central Locations within 3 miles of your family’s home.
Pick-Up & Drop-Off: Parents and/or guardians will have the option of dropping their child off at LuHi during specific time frames, with both before and aftercare available for an additional cost. Our enhanced drop-off and pick-up procedures will allow for a streamlined and safe process. Families who choose this option for the entire session will save $100 off their tuition.
Door to Door Transportation: Our team works incredibly hard to provide as much flexibility as possible, knowing that our efforts will allow families to customize their summer in whatever way works best for them! The cost of Door to Door Transportation is $295 per week, per camper, in addition to the cost of each program. Door to door transportation routes may include a centralized transportation stop. Availability is dependent on your location & enrollment.
Please Note: To guarantee door-to-door transportation, families must be registered for the service 2 weeks prior to the start of the desired session. Door to door transportation routes may include a centralized transportation stop. Availability is dependent on your location & enrollment.
Specifics about your family’s official central location assignment, timing, bus counselors, and procedures are provided to families via email once that information has been confirmed by our bus companies, typically the Thursday or Friday before each Session begins.
Please email summerprograms@luhi.org with any questions or concerns
TRANSPORTATION REQUESTS
LuHi Summer Programs is committed to providing a safe and efficient transportation experience for all campers. For any questions or concerns regarding transportation, please contact our Transportation Department.
Special transportation requests should be emailed to Transportation@luhi.org and will be evaluated based on availability, safety, conduct, and other factors necessary to ensure a positive atmosphere for campers, families, drivers, and staff. While timely requests will be considered, approval is not guaranteed. Approved requests will be confirmed via email, so please retain confirmation emails for your records.
Please note that we cannot accommodate requests for specific bus or route numbers, bus drivers, or counselors. Submit transportation requests at least one week before your camper’s start date. Late requests will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
FAQs
We offer several transportation options: Centralized Transportation, Door-to-Door Transportation, and Parent Pick-Up/Drop-Off. You will select your camper’s transportation method during registration. However, you can make changes up to two weeks before the session start date.
After this deadline, we will make every effort to accommodate changes, but they are not guaranteed. If you need to modify your camper’s transportation, please contact our office, and we will be happy to assist you!
Each family has unique needs, and we understand that some requests may fall outside of our standard transportation options.
- All special requests must be submitted via email to Transportation@luhi.org.
- If you would like to discuss your request before submitting, you are welcome to call our office. However, formal requests cannot be made or guaranteed over the phone.
We strive to accommodate reasonable requests whenever possible. However, some requests may not be possible or may incur additional fees.
Requests may include:
- Multiple stops/routes for a camper during a session
- Bus/route changes
- Door-to-door transportation cancellations within two weeks of the session start date
- Last-minute cancellations or changes
- Centralized Transportation: Campers are assigned to a bus route for each session (or week) they attend. Assignments are based on the address provided at registration, and campers are placed at a Central Location within their community. Families can select their preferred Central Location from available options.
- Door-to-Door Transportation: Campers are assigned to a bus route based on their registered home address. Some routes will include only door-to-door campers, while others may combine door-to-door and centralized transportation campers.
Additional Notes:
- Siblings or campers from the same address will be assigned to the same bus/route.
- Bus numbers and routes may change from session to session.
- Final bus/route details will be emailed before the session begins.
